You are invited to the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Brandwood End Cemetery which is to be held on Thursday 15th April 2010 from 7.30- 9.00pm at St Bedes Church, Doversley Road, Kings Heath. Light refreshments will be available.

Save our Chapels petition has over 1000 signatures!

Friends of Brandwood End Cemetery have so far gathered over 1000 signatures to support their ‘Save Our Chapels’ campaign. Brandwood End Cemetery has two beautiful twin Grade II mortuary chapels in serious disrepair and FBEC have undertaken a determined campaign to save them. They will need more signatures before presenting the petition to the Chapels’ owners – Birmingham City Council. Nearly 600 signatures today!!

The Friends managed to get nearly 600 signatures towards the Save Our Chapels campaign today. Sadly Mothering Sunday is one of the busiest days in Brandwood End Cemetery but visitors were so lovely and supportive, and nearly everyone we spoke to signed our petition. A big thank you to our helpers, and to all those that signed. Thank you!

We need to get as many signatures as possible for our Save Our Chapels petition. Sadly Mothering Sunday is one of the busiest days at Brandwood End Cemetery so we are meeting at 11am near the Lodge to attract more support. We were very kindly received by everyone on All Souls Day last year but unfortunately we just didn’t have enough people with enough clipboards to get more signatures. If you can help, if only for an hour, please contact Sarah on sassyuk99@hotmail.co.uk. We will have a gazebo and hot drinks in case the weather is typically English!!

The Friends of Brandwood End Cemetery would like to ensure that Birmingham City Council acknowledge their responsibility for preserving our architectural and cultural heritage and support the efforts of the Friends of Brandwood End Cemetery to restore the listed Chapels in Brandwood End Cemetery.
